Followed by last year theme: Wearable Zine, a zine aimed to digitally archive traditional textile culture through smart materials, we have evolved our vision of spreading this event more widely and more often around Asia in the next years, with the idea for it to be like a nomad art residency/festival that grows along with the traditional textile scene. In Asia, there are many undeveloped regions which are rich in textile culture and still have kept the simple face of early human civilization. We want to bring creative minds to these communities and create a space for meaningful exchange.

The reason why we want to visit those sites is because we consider the dialog between traditional and contemporary societies to be necessary. Tribe Against Machine is eager to create collaboration between them. It is not our intention to go there to provide assistance with an existing agenda, but simply to go and explore, live with them from time to time and to find the common ground of the two societies.

We hope to continuously reach out and visit different remote areas in the future, because for us, the preservation through the spreading of various fading culture is our practice to respond to “Tribe Against Machine” and it is why we’re calling you to join us. This “nomadic movement”, in a very vague way, is expected to be formed in the next few years through the migration, digital or analog, virtual or physical, the creation of a network that can connect our relations, thoughts, knowledge, goods, culture or experiences in an unprecedented way through this movement. This is yet to be created, and we invite all of you to explore and to dream with us.
